How your staff or clients could benefit from CIPD Trust mentoring programmes
Get in touchWorking together for success
We know that securing and staying in employment can be transformative for the people we support but we also know that individuals may be facing other challenges that could impact on their ability to work. That’s why we partner with expert charities who can support and advise on the wider context and experiences of the individuals we support.
Beyond helping individuals overcome their immediate barriers to work we focus one strand of our work on fostering change in employers. Our engagement with businesses in the CIPD network has demonstrated a clear appetite to support people facing the greatest barriers to work. To foster action, they require more guidance, support and advice. To make this happen we collaborate with our charity partners to connect organisations, share best practice and produce guidance. Through bringing together our network of businesses and third sector experts we directly promote and support inclusivity in the workplace and make a meaningful impact on local communities.
This is an exciting partnership. We have a lot of members of staff with lived experience of the criminal justice system. Our aim is to create social justice and a society where everyone has a future. We want those who have put their lived experience behind them to benefit from the experiences and expertise of others and to empower them at work.”

Our mentoring programmes
Our mentoring programmes pair HR professionals with people from the groups we support to help them with a work-related challenge. This could be finding work, settling into a new role, taking on new management responsibilities or developing in their career. Our mentors are the experts in people at work and are perfectly placed to help individuals navigate the UK workplace.
Who we support
- Refugees and displaced people
- Individuals with lived experience of the criminal justice system
- Parents returning to work following a career break
- Lived experience employees of our charity partners
We have mentors who have a breadth of knowledge of recruitment processes. From in-house recruiters to specialist agencies across a range of sectors we’ll provide your client with the expertise they need to find work in a challenging employment market. If you hire staff with lived experience from the groups we support we can pair them with a mentor who can help them to settle in and grow professionally. Our mentors are on hand to give free, impartial advice on managing transitions at work. They can help your staff find their confidence again and make a success of the opportunity you have given them.
Krystyna – Rebuilding Futures mentee
I can already say that thanks to this programme and my mentor, I feel significantly more confident navigating the job market, in the process of searching for vacancies, and in applying for roles. My mentor and I worked together to completely revamp my CV, into a CV that really stands out and makes me a competitive candidate which is something I struggled with before.
Joining the programme has nurtured my success where it was much harder to see progress when I first came to the country. The regular sessions have been invaluable in helping me understand workplace cultures. My mentor has also been a great source of motivation, ensuring I stay positive throughout the process. we’ve already planned a mock interview to ensure I’m fully prepared when the opportunity comes. I truly appreciate and am deeply grateful for this support.
